Amanjot N., 18

United Kingdom

Aman is an up-and-coming leader passionate about transitioning to sustainable energy and inspiring more girls to study STEM.

“I received an invitation to be the only student and female representative at an oil and gas conference and gave a speech to more than 300 engineering professionals. During the speech, I discussed the transition to alternative energy and what students are looking for when they consider engineering as a career path. I felt confident to put myself out there because of my practice with public speaking at the Summit.”

Justin W., 17

Michigan

Justin really ran with his Summit project and created a nonprofit when he arrived home that focuses on child literacy. Find him on Instagram @StoryboxBooks!

“I knew this was an issue for which I could create a Community Action Plan to create change. After working late that night in my dorm room, I realized that my plan truly had potential. I presented it the next day, and within three months I had implemented it in my community. Fast forward two years, and that original Community Action Plan has blossomed into a nonprofit organization called Storybox Books."

Makayla G., 13

North Carolina

Makayla continued her Summit project at home in Charlotte, NC by coordinating a Human Trafficking Awareness event at her school.

“My School Resource Officer supervised my project and we created a Human Trafficking Awareness Night for our school. We had over 145 students and parents attend this event to learn more about human trafficking. We asked students who attended the event to bring art supplies, which we then donated to Present Age Ministries, a nonprofit that helps victims of human trafficking, to use during their group sessions.”
