As far as we’re concerned, there’s really nothing better than helping others and getting help in return. That’s why we’re excited to introduce you to Funds2Orgs, an organization that provides all the tools necessary to collect, ship and donate gently used shoes. Once you send your shipment (with shipping costs paid for by Funds2Orgs), they send you a check based on the weight of the shoes.

REGISTER AND PREPARE

Start by visiting Funds2Orgs.com and clicking on ‘Get Started.’ You’ll register as an ‘individual’ on their online registration form. From there, Funds2Orgs will send you a kit with everything you need to host a successful fundraiser.

While you wait for your kit to arrive, peruse their website and download the free resources guide to help you in your fundraising efforts. It will also help you explain your fundraiser to your family, friends and community when you begin collecting shoes.

Get prepared to advertise and collect shoes by creating a flyer to hand out to people who are interested in participating. Be sure to include information about Funds2Orgs and a link to their website, so people can learn more about how their shoes will help you and others.

Don’t forget to mention why you’re fundraising — your Summit! Let people know that you’re collecting shoes to raise funds for a leadership or medicine and health care summit. It is important for donors to know that their contributions go toward a greater goal: Funds2Orgs’ mission and your Summit experience!

HOW TO FIND SHOES

Everyone has shoes in their closets they don’t wear anymore! Start by looking in your own closet. Do you have any gently used shoes you don’t wear anymore or have outgrown? Once you’ve checked your own closet, ask your siblings and parents, grandparents and other family members to check their closets for shoes to donate.

From there, branch out via social media to recruit your friends, their families and the community at large to join your efforts. Talk to your principal about advertising at school and church or community leaders about hanging flyers on announcement boards.

RECEIVE YOUR CHECK

Once you’ve collected your gently used shoes, mail them back to Fund2Orgs and wait a couple days for them to weigh the shoes and process your check! Take time to send thank you cards to those who donated to your fundraiser. Expressing your gratitude is a great way to encourage people to support you in future fundraisers.

With a little help from Fund2Orgs and your friends, you’ll be well on your way to a successful Summit fundraiser!
