If you are short on time as the holidays approach, you can still fundraise for your Summit. It’s a busy time with exams and winter break coming, but you don’t want to lose momentum. We have an idea for you of a quick and easy way to ask for donations online. Sending personalized e-cards is an effective way to fund raise in an hour after school or on the weekend.

MAKE A LIST

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a list of names and email addresses for the recipients of your e-card. Ask your parents and siblings to help you think of people who may be interested in supporting your Summit or simply hearing what you are up to. These can be relatives, neighbors, friends, co-workers, or really anyone you know! Who doesn’t love to get a thoughtful card?

CREATE

There are a variety of free online e-card resources available to you. We like Hallmark, Punchbowl, and American Greetings. These sites all provide an array of options to customize your e-cards. Once you have the design picked, it’s time to write the text. This is the most important part of the card! Effective e-cards will include these points:

  • The background: Explain briefly that you were nominated and invited to attend an Ambassador Leadership Summit at a prestigious campus like Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Yale, or UCLA during the summer of 2019.

  • Call to action: Ask for a donation toward your tuition. Describe what you hope to gain from attending the Summit, so those who receive your card understand what their donation will be used for. You may include a suggested donation amount - this tells people that even a small donation is appreciated.

  • How to donate: Don’t forget to include our website address and phone number! Our website will provide them more information about your Summit, and our phone number (509.396.5551) is an easy way for them to make a donation for you.

SEND!

After proofreading the e-cards, enter the list of email addresses that you collected and hit send! Our office will let your parents know after each donation is made so you can keep track.

Be sure to reach out to each donor with a heartfelt thank-you card or email.
